RedHill Media puts together another camera crew in Madrid for a corporate shoot – this time Microsoft

RedHill Media's Phillip Stark runs camera during a studio interview at Telecinco

Bruno White Entertainment in Orlando, Florida recently hired RedHill Media to execute a series of  interviews at Spains #1 private television station, Telecinco. The interviews, contracted by Microsoft, covered Telecinco’s use of their Silverlight web streaming software.

BWE producer Bob Johannsen had this to say about RedHill Media’s work:

“We were very happy with RedHill Media on our recent shoot in Madrid. The production went very smoothly and stayed on schedule despite the usual myriad of last-minute changes that we needed to adapt to.  Ben, Phil, and the team always took the extra steps to make sure the results were not only good, but perfect.  For us, that puts them well in the top tier of the many fine production companies we have worked with internationally.  I’m happy to recommend them to others, and for my next shoot in Madrid, I hope RedHill will be there to help again.”

cameraman in Madrid for Delorean’s MySpace Secret show

Admin2 | January 19, 2010

Every once in awhile we get a small but fun gig like shooting a band.  When Illustrator and editor Pablo Lentile called me for a quick (loooooow budget) gig shooting Delorean’s Myspace Secret Show at Joy Eslava,  I said sure -  what the  heck.  After all, Joy Eslava is only a couple blocks from my house, right? It was a blast anyway. Here’s the vid (edited very nicely by Pablo):

Admin2 | January 6, 2010

videmic in blackbook magazine BlackBook Magazine gave a nudge today to our new web series, Videmic, by distributing our pilot video on their web site. The  show,  hosted by Karina Stenquist of Mobuzz TV fame,  takes an irreverent quirky look at Web TV and viral videos.

We’ve already gotten some great feedback from viewers as well as web television industry leaders. Hopefully, this exposure will help us in our quest for additional distribution partners, financial backing, and press coverage.

For anyone interested in helping out – we’re always looking for collaborators and partners. Just shoot us an email!

PS:  For those of you unfamiliar with Black Book, here’s a bit of info:

“BlackBook has a spirited enthusiasm for urban life, and the ways in which fashion, pop culture, and politics intersect and sometimes collide. It still enjoys frollicking in the shallows as well as in the deep end. … never less than stimulating, provocative, and, best of all, entertaining..”

English-speaking video production house in Madrid, Spain RedHill Media produces Fender pilot

Admin2 | November 18, 2009

RedHill Media, an English-speaking production house in Madrid specializing in camera crews and production fixers, has ventured further into original web programming initiatives with their following pilot for Fender Guitars, Spain. RedHill Media provided the Madrid camera crew, video gear rentals, studio rental, logistics and transportation, as well all other aspects of production and post-production (minus the script). Though video production in Spain is suffering just as many other business during the current financial crisis, it seems that web video is still moving forward. Hopefully it’s a trend that continues!!!!

Interview with Baltasar Garzon secured by RedHill Media production services & camera crews in Madrid, Spain

Admin2 | June 8, 2009
Baltasar Garzon - Spain's most famous judge

Baltasar Garzon - Spain's most famous judge

New prime-time NBC current affairs show “The Wanted”, from production company Teddy Bright productions called RedHill producer Ben Dornan late last month. They were having problems tying down a telephone interview with Spanish crusading superjudge Baltasar Garzón for a forthcoming show about a renowned international terrorist mastermind.

Garzón is famous among the news gathering community worldwide for not talking to foreign media – and has a specific policy of not talking about current cases. Nevertheless, we took up the challenge, hit the phones, and took the direct route  by heading straight down to his office at  the Audiencia Nacional in central Madrid. After a few hours of sweet talking staff, secretaries, and the great man himself, the crucial telephone interview was secured.

Charlie Ebersol, one of the show’s producers was understandably grateful, “It went really well. Great work today. Thank you so much!”

So there you have it. RedHill can open doors that otherwise might stay firmly locked. For all your production service, research, and fixing needs please don’t hesitate to call on us!

Recommendation letter from Unleaded for RedHill Media, production fixers and English speaking camera crews in Madrid,

Admin2 | May 13, 2009
Production fixing and camera crews in Madrid
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
We are a Dallas, Texas-based production company and creative agency that films
around the world. We’ve relied on production services and talent in over 30
countries and for more than 20 years, but this is the first time we’ve actually
followed a production with a letter of referral.
I’m glad we waited.
It’s only fitting that Ben Dornan, Phillip Stark and their team at Redhill Media get
our first glowing recommendation. They earned every bit of it, along with all our
respect and friendship.
In every country, the importance of experienced, agile and prudent production
coordinators can never been underestimated. In Spain, it becomes even more
essential. And with the help of Ben & Phil, Madrid and Spain become fabulous
locations for production.
We worked hand in hand with Redhill for over three weeks in the prepping,
scouting and filming of our series of films on behalf of American Airlines and
TM Advertising. The project was not only as smooth as could be, it was also a
true pleasure. The passion and attention to detail shown by Phil and Ben was
evident in every element of our production.
We cannot recommend the Redhill team more highly and would certainly be
happy to offer our company as a reference for anyone exploring their Spanish
production options.
Sincerely,Tracy Helms

Marc (on camera), Phil (in hat), and Tracy (center)

In April 2009, RedHill Media worked as local producers for an American Airlines video promoting Madrid as a fantastic tourist destination. Director Tracy Helms of Unleaded and his cameraman Marc Andre Chartrand captured amazing images of local stores, museums, restaurants, and much  more using the new Canon 5D Mark II cameras, while Barcelona freelancer and video artist Dan Dubassy focused on recording breathtaking time lapses of the Spanish capital.

RedHill Media sourced gear, acquired permits, hired additional crew, handled shoot logistics and transportation, and other production fixing services.

It was an awesome shoot and we hope to see the Unleaded team back in Madrid again soon!

Well, so far we’re re-created Chicago and Japan for the Takeaway TV web series, and last weekend it was Vietnam’s turn! Shooting on location in Madrid, Spain for McGraw Hill web series

Admin2 | April 14, 2009

Hey everyone – Phil here! We’re now well into production on the McGraw Hill Takeaway.TV series. After months of writing and getting final approvals on our 60 original scripts, it’s truly exciting to see it all finally  come  together! This week we’re  running around Madrid like madmen getting props and scouting locations. Below you’ll find images of us shooting with Ross Matray on location in Madrid, Spain. The location had to look  like “Chicago…” We threw in a little art and money to spice it up–check out the the Lichtenstein poster on the left and the dollar bill poster with Al Pacino as  president on the right. We also felt a glass door in the background would give a Frank Loyd Wright touch… ;-)

Phillip Stark on camera

Phil Stark shooting actress Yuka Sánchez

Japanese doll

This shoot called for character described as “a young Japanese photographer and graphic designer,” so Phil and Ben created a little corner of Tokyo in a South Madrid apartment building.

The set was relatively simple but “cuidadado hasta el último detalle.” (dressed to the last detail).

As with the majority of their web shoots, Phil and Ben try to work as light as possible while”multi-skilling” across all departments.

The lighting was achieved with 1 Kino 4 X 2 and a 1K red head with bounce board.

All went great and the guys are looking forward to recreating interior locations for Chicago, Hanoi, Vancouver, LA and Buenos Aires  – all from their home  base  in Madrid!

Ben Dornan video production crews in spain

Ben Dornan – Producer/Production Manager/Director:

After many years in Bristol and London – first studying at the prestigious London College of Printing film school and then working as researcher and PA in documentaries for independent production companies and the BBC – Ben jumped at an opportunity to come to Spain to produce an educational video project for publisher Pearson Longman. “Spain is different” as the slogan goes and he decided to stay and make Madrid his new home. In the last four years Ben has worked for international broadcasters such as PBS, Discovery Channel, History Television, MTV, ITV; on commercial shoots for clients such as Mercedes, Ford, Heineken and RedBull; and on corporate projects for companies such as British Council, Telefonica-O2 and TetraPak.

Ben’s work has taken him all the way across the Spanish peninsula and islands, through Europa and across to North America. While he currently produces, co-ordinates and production manages television projects, corporate films and and commercials, Ben is particularly interested developing projects utilizing new media technology and exploiting the power of the internet and the viral video phenomenon.

Snippies recommends PhillipStark as video journalist and camera operator in Madrid, Spain

admin |

video journalists and camera operators in madrid, spain

To Whom it May Concern-

I am writing in reference to my work with Phillip Stark as a freelance
video journalist (VJ) out of Madrid. Snippies is based in New York, but
employs a worldwide network of video journalists and DV camera crews.

The nature of our work requires me as a producer to place much trust and confidence in our local crews and VJs because rarely do our budgets allow for a producer on-site. In our work with Phillip, he has
displayed an extremely professional attitude and proficiency in his DV
shooting and interviewing.

Snippies’ projects often operate on a very quick turnaround schedule
with hard deadlines. Phillip has been able to overcome shipping
obstacles and other issues to always meet every deadline perfectly. He
is a skilled videographer with a knack for talking to people and
producing thoughtful, in-depth interviews.

It has been a pleasure working professionally with Phillip, and I wish we had the opportunity
to use him for each and every international shoot we do!

admin |

camera crew madrid and english speaking production fixer

To Whom It May Concern:

In September 2006, I hired Phillip Stark to work with me on a

He worked as a translator, an associate producer, and as a cameraman often engaging in more than one task at a time. Phillip is reliable, organized and proactive, and I recommend him highly for any position.

I would certainly hire him again upon return to Madrid.

for work as Madrid cameraman and production fixer, Travel Channel recommends Phillip Stark

admin |

cameraman and translator madrid

To Whom It May Concern:

I am a host and producer of “Your Travel Guide”, produced by Discovery Production Group for the Travel Channel in the United States. Our fast paced, single-camera show needs crew members who are flexible, quick-thinking and on-the-ball. Working as my camera-man, translator and all-around Guy Friday for an episode on Madrid, Phillip Stark surpassed expectations. He did a wonderful job.

Phillip is dedicated and has a positive attitude. He went out of his way to introduce me to the local culture and generously offered the use of his connections in Madrid to help the shoot. At one point I mused that it would be nice to get an overhead shot of one street scene. A quick phone call later, we were shooting from his friend’s balcony.

I highly recommend hiring Phillip. He gets things done and is a pleasure to work with.

recommendation letter for camera operator and translation services in Spain for Cavalia shoot

admin |

english speaking camera operators in spain

To whom it may concern:

We have been very fortunate to cross path with Mr. Phillip Stark when we were looking for a camera operator for our “hurry-up-and-wait” nature shoot in the south of Spain recently.

Phillip has been an above and beyond the line resource for us. More than a translator. A great operator. Avid and eager to learn and fast. He operated a Panasonic HVX-900 with ease although he had never used it he made his research prior to shoot. A good talented worker.

Our shoot goal was to actually film a pregnant mare giving birth in the wild. A very rare thing. So our schedule was all over and open.

Five o’clock in the morning on a beach in Tarifa to monitor a mare that was about to give birth and then the rest of the day we went and roamed around the south of Spain (Jerez de la Frontera, etc.) and filmed horses on either beaches, pine groves by the beach, dunes, fields, mountains and wild horses. Long days. Every morning Mr. Stark was up and got the gear ready and was in his trade mark cheery mood. We really hit it off a real pleasure.

I would strongly recommend him for any type of shoot (HD/SD). The only problem with Phillip is that he grows on you and you just want to have him for you… Should anyone have any questions I remain available at all time.

Sincerely yours,

Robert Boulos

Working with Phillip Stark during The StyleFyle shoot in Madrid was a
pleasure! From his prompt response to my initial inquiry, to the generous

recommendation lettter as production coordinator and spain fixer from Discovery Channel for MegaWorld Spain

admin |

english speaking fixers and productio crews in madrid

To Whom It May Concern:

It is my pleasure to recommend Phillip Stark as a potential hire for documentary pre-production work. I am an associate producer with Discovery Channel Canada. Our production came to know Phillip when he fulfilled the role of production coordinator and Spanish fixer for one of our 1-hour shows in the Discovery series, “Megaworld.” Phillip distinguished himself by his enthusiasm for the production and ambition to coordinate and confirm shoot details despite the challenges of our very tight production schedule.

Overall, Phillip is most appreciated for his diligent work ethic. He secured the filming logistics on two of our seven stories, talking to the contacts on behalf of us and gaining their trust and approval to allow us to film. When asked to scout out one story location in Barcelona, Phillip not only charmed the contacts and confirmed the shoot details, but also filmed video and met with potential interviewees, then uploading the video to the Internet for us to review here in Canada. It was unquestionably helpful for research purposes and for gaining a greater understanding of the location.

Phillip also fulfilled additional roles, [not limited to the following]: assisting with speedy translations of insurance documents and Internet links;, researching crew transportation and hotel options; assisting in obtaining insurance policies and film permits; and researching backup story ideas. He did everything in the timeliest of manners.

I am happy to recommend Phillip to anyone looking for a diligent and experienced production assist, especially one fluent in Spanish and English.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.

as video production fixers in Madrid, Redhill Media receives recommendation letter for Discovery Channel series work

admin |

english speaking production fixers madrid

If you’re thinking about working with Redhill Media* for you production needs in
Madrid, just do it. I had a challenging three day shoot in multiple
locations for an Investigation Discovery documentary series this fall, but
Phillip and his team made it all work smoothly.

They know Production, they know Spanish and they know Madrid. I threw a
number of curves at them and they kept coming back with good options. I’ve
worked with fixers all over the world and the guys at Redhill Media*  were the
best. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Redhill Media working on new Madrid stock footage for 2009

admin |

We’ve been getting a lot of requests lately for Madrid stock footage, so we’ve decided to stop talking about it and just go out and do it! The result? We now have a significant library of HDV (30i) video covering pretty much all of Madrid’s top landmarks  under beautiful weather conditions including El Prado, the Reina Sofia museum,  the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum, the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Puerta Del Sol, Gran Via as well as images of bustling Madrid (people eating, drinking, walking, etc). And of course, we have images of tapas and flamenco!

If you are interested in progressive or full HD footage, we are currently out there shooting it – just contact us for more info and we’d be happy to get the shots you need!
